Exciting Day at Pittsburg State University for Our Seniors!
Our seniors had an incredible opportunity today at Pittsburg State University, where they engaged with various government leaders to gain insights into the world of civic engagement and public service. Here's a glimpse of their enriching experience:
The day kicked off with a compelling speech by retired Government educator Lee Brunetti, emphasizing the importance of understanding government mechanisms and the significance of active participation in local elections. His words set the tone for an enlightening day ahead.
Following Mr. Brunetti's inspiring talk, our students had the privilege of hearing from Crawford County Clerk Lisa Lusker, who shed light on her role, responsibilities, and the crucial impact of voter participation in shaping our communities.
In breakout sessions, students had the freedom to explore various aspects of governance, with options ranging from insights from State Leaders to discussions with Local city leaders and Pittsburg State Student Government representatives. It was a hands-on opportunity for our seniors to delve deeper into the workings of government at different levels.
Lunchtime was not just a break but another chance for meaningful conversations, as students enjoyed a meal at the Mall Deli accompanied by social studies teachers Adam Smith and Kourtney Yantis, further extending the discussions sparked earlier in the day.
Today was more than just a field trip; it was an invaluable learning experience that empowered our seniors with knowledge, perspective, and a deeper appreciation for their role as active citizens. A huge thank you to all the speakers, organizers, and everyone involved in making this day
SAVE THE DATE!!!
